I am currently using a set of shure se535 in-ear monitors. I like them and they work fine, but i would like to get some recommendations on alternatives under $500. I play in a wedding/casino cover band and play a very wide variety of music. Thanks for your input.

Westone UM Pro 30’s come to mind. But, I don’t believe you’ll get better than what you have for $500.

  3. +1 on the Westone. I have a set of AM30s I paid 430 for, they are the bomb. UM30s are great too. I like to hear external sound to a point so I went with the AM30s.

i just tried to find (no luck) a recent thread discussing alternatives to the pricey, all-pro IEM's. if you could find that thread (good luck!) it may have something useful for you. sorry for no link!

  6. Not sure what thread you were looking for. Try searching for IEM in the forums, there are a bunch of them.

ha! i did try --- just didn't spend a lot of time with it = not my issue: it's the OP's issue, if he reads this maybe he'll take your suggestion....but thanks! ;)

  8. No worries. I thought you were looking for a specific thread you remembered and couldn't find it. I ain't tryin to be the forum police.

I tend to agree with this statement. I also use the 535 after upgrading from the 200 series. What are you using as inserts? I recommend having custom inserts made. I used my local audiologist and she hooked me up with a company that made them so they would fit my 535s. Ear molds were $50, and the custom inserts were $135. I hear every nuance of the entire band without the need to run nuclear volume. IMO the 535s triple drivers work great.

Wow they've gotten expensive, but I've used these with 535's and they will be as close to a custom IEM as you can get. Westone - Music

When I first started getting into IEM's I got Westone to make a set of 1/2 molds (from impressions) that would fit over the stems of my UM-1's.
They fit fine.. on the buds. They were painful to wear and a PITA to insert as the 1/2 molds often rotated during the process. I quit using them pretty quickly.
    MY $0.02... YMMV

I have asked before.. also one about setting up wireless access for IEM's configuring external access points (routers, WAP's,..) for digital consoles.

  17. Puls Labs do triple driver customs for about $370 that's the most affordable decent multi driver customs I've seen atm. Nova Pro 3

  18. If universal fit iems aren't an issue I'd also look into the new Bgvp Dmg 6 driver iems I picked up set recently and they are by far the best iems I've owned or listened to atm and they are only $140 on eBay aliexpress and Amazon

Another vote for Westones. I got a set of UM20s and they sounded great. Had custom molds made and they now sound amazing; first time I ever really heard my bass clearly in the monitors. I watched a bunch of youtube reviews and one in particular made a good point. Don't go too crazy with in ears. It's not about high fidelity, it's about hearing yourself. I picked up a set of KZ ZS5s for about $20 and they do the job quite nicely. I'm considering having custom molds made for them as well. The KZs are a standard size, so the molds can be used with most in ears if I ever decide to upgrade them.

I see a lot of you are using ear bud headphones versus IEMs. Is there a difference?
