ive had this bass for the past 3-4 years ibanez edb600

but i feel its time to buy another, i plan on going to guitar center to play some basses, but i cant decide right now on how many strings. should i get a better 4 string, a 5, 6, or possibly even a 7. now while id get 'props' for my 7, i have no experience playing one let alone 6. i like to play (attempt to play) victor wooten's, stu hamm's and some les claypool stuff. also what do you think about tremelos? some of my friends think that the sound may be a little weak with one.

    thanks for the help.

I was in your same spot, playing an EDB600. I hated it and it smelled funny :p. Anywho, I was considering going into the higher string range; five, six, and seven. I couldn't play it, and I'm planning to stick to four with my previous basses. Buy something you like, and make sure it suits what you play. Though I love my ric dearly, it's not the best slap'n'tap bass.
  5. What kind of budget are you on? Wish I could afford a new fodera.
