In the black

  1. After almost a couple years of gigging, rehearsing, and pleading with attractive girls to come to our shows I have a moment to be proud of. I walked away from a gig last night with $38 in my pocket. Making the big bucks now. Prior to this gig money always went to reimburse one band member or another for expenses. Not anymore. We are now a profit-making machine. Woohoo!
  2. Congratulations! Don't blow that $38 all in one place!

I remember having a similar feeling of accomplishment at a gig in Eugene, OR, when as bandleader I was about to finally leave the premises thirty buck richer. Hadn't happened before. And as it turned out it didn't happen that night either, as the drunk singer ended up accosting me for gas money, actually leaping onto my running board and clinging to the door of my car as I was attempting to drive off.

    Ah, the glory...

Attractive girls at your show are worth more than $38.00!

If this was a bar gig, it is a known fact that a few attractive girls in the crowd will pull more paying warm bodies through the door than most bands. Keep it up!

I sometimes get asked if I play for money and I say "Yes, and at the rate I'm going it will only take me 73 years to pay off my gear."

Congrats sounds like you'll be giving U2 a run for their money :)
  7. I can't wait for a TB thread where Adam Clayton complains about my bass playing.

snowcal is way over rated but i do like his earlier work, sadly that $38 has gone to his head. im not even sure if hes actually playing anymore, theres rumours of him " going flea" and "getting his verdine white on" with prerecorded tracks

I remember when SnowCal was in it for the music. The art. Too bad "the Man" got to him. Such a shame.. so young, so talented. It's always the money, isn't it?

Hee Hee, very poignant, like the op, gunna buy new strings and change my 32 year old bass strings when i earn enough cold hard cash from playing bass at gigs, unless i die of old age first... all about being a dreamer, being a musician, cheers.

SnowCal, just like Adam Clayton before him, is now causing major jealously amongst his fellow TB'ers!
