Inexpensive/Affordable 5-string P or P/J...

    That sounds similar to a P or P/J (and potentially even has a P-bass look? Though sound is more important to me than look. $500'ish and under.

    Under 9 lbs'ish.

    Ya ya ya... I'm a yamaha fan, and have been tempted multiple times for a 415 or 615. For a P-style sounding bass I just keep finding myself leaning toward more of a heritage shape. Hell... I probably will never play the P/J. :-0

    ill sell you my 80's squier hm w\ a pj when im done fixing the electrics. :) i dont think my brain is wired for a five.

    Ya, I've contemplated the new 5-string P/humbucker of theirs. Unfortunately it's 35" scale and I'm attempting to stick to 34".

    The updated Yamaha BB425 is out now. They seem to be running $599 street except when they go on sale. The seem to be a pretty nice upgrade with a sweet five piece neck.:bassist:

    I think the bb425 or 425x could be a winner...

    People keep mentioning a $100 GC discount, but I'm not finding it.

    I just checked, and its on sale for $499. The regular price is $599.
