Here's how we play: Name your town and five tunes that are regularly called at jam sessions. I'm doing an independent project for my Music and Human Learning course. This is due Wednesday afternoon. Thanks in advance!
City: NYC 5 tunes regularly called at jam sessions: 1) Stablemates 2) There Will Never Be Another You 3) There Will Never Be Another You 4) Stablemates and 5th place is a tie between Stablemates and There Will Never Be Another You
Funny. I'll put NYC down for Stablemates and There will Never... Seriously thoug, I'm trying to compile a list of tunes for students that they can learn so they can perform across the country at jam sessions. Seems tedious, but hey, that's academia for you.

Detroit Footprints literally every single jam session no matter whether its funk or straight ahead or whatever. Some of the tunes you guys are calling aren't that easy. These are for students, so leave out "Betty" and "Giant Steps". I heard Benny Golson say that "Now's The Time" is what you play at a jam session when you can't think of anything else to play. He then played "Now's The Time". When I was in high school, my brother was studying piano, and we got hold of a copy of the book. We simply worked our way through it from cover to cover. That exercise has paid off again and again.
Blue Bossa Straight No Chaser All Blues They seem to be common, at least amongst my friends. I don't typically go 'out' to jams

@ Hdiddiy: True, I just wanted to conduct a survey for a class, therefore I felt I needed to start a new data stream on the topic. However, the class is over, so if the Mods want to delete or close this thread, fine with me.
