I'd like to install a snap handle on the bottom of a carpet covered combo amp so I can tilt it back. I'm wondering if I can just use wood screws and install it over the carpet or if I need to take the carpet off underneath and use T-nuts. I won't be using the handle to lift the combo.

You should be fine. I bought some surface mount spring loaded handles from Reliable not too long ago and mounted them to the bottom of two monitor wedges right over the carpet and they've been just fine.

For other who might want something a bit more hardy, check this neat little thing out:

    Thanks
I have one of those you linked to on my shuttle combo. They are nice but I dont want to drill a big hole in my cab.
