Installing a pickup cover on a Geddy Lee

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by a e i o u, Aug 14, 2004.

  1. How do I do this? I'm guess I just drill a hole on each side of the pickup about the size of the hole that are hopefully put in the cover. Are there any wires I could possible hit doing this, or any other way to do any damage to the bass? It is a Geddy Lee if that matters. I want to do this as soon as I can find a chrome neck pickup cover.

I've done this to a P-Bass and I would not recommend it. You will probably not hit any wires, and you can position it perfectly by using the large pictures on the Fender site, but IMO it interferes with your playing. I took mine off after a couple of weeks because it was just in my way. It might not be a problem for you though.

My old Marcus Miller Sig bass had one - It didn't get in my way at all. MHO.

I love the way they look and they're great "palm rests".
