Installing an Active circuit in a Fender Jazz

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Sound Guy Paul, Dec 1, 2001.

  1. I was once told that it is real easy to pop in an active circuit into a jazz. Does anyone first of all know if this is possible. and if it is, is there a way I can make it so I can switch easily (such as a pull-up knob) between the classic fender passive sound and an active EQ?

There is a preamp made for the Jazz bass called the J retro and it has a passive mode. Find out more at http://www.vintagebass.com or over at the Dudepit.

As far as installing any other preamp on the Jazz, no, the Jazz is one of the hardest basses to install a preamp on, because the control cavity is very small. That's why the J retro is so popular, it was designed to fit in the tiny space of a Jazz control cavity.
