installing pickups for MIM Jazz

    I just ordered a set of Fender custom shop 60's jazz pickups and I am going to put them in my MIM Jazz Bass. How much routing out has to be done? I assume the pickguard also has to be modified. I hope I can still use my tortise shell pickguard that is on there now. I also am going to put some D'addaro Flatwounds on it. I hope this will add some punch over my stck MIM pickups. Any advice or comments. Thanks

    Ii'm pretty sure all you have to do is use a chisel to shave away about 5 mm from each end of the bridge pup route.

    They dropped right into my '92 MIM... Way more wallop!

    I have found that in most cases no bridge spot routing is required, maybe a tiny bit of trim to the base of the pickup covers. The pickguard will have to be modified slightly though ...
