Installing string tree on Kalamazoo KB-1

Recently decided to install a string tree on my late 60’s Kalamazoo KB-1 because as you can see, the stock break over the nut is just ridiculous..

I’m not sure if there’s a science to this or if I should just put it where I think it looks right. Here’s where I’m thinking:

Does this look right? The open D’s been fine, but the open G is unplayable as it is right now. The slightest bit of pressure on the string over the nut remedies things though.
