I am interested in doing some background vocals and hopefully lead vocals in my band. I don't have time to go to a teacher, but I do aim to learn it the right way, without damaging my vocal cords etc. I suppose there must be several videos or instruction DVDs around, just like for bass instruction.
Does anyone have any suggestions which ones are the best titles?

  2. i've seen some video's at Feedback in Rotterdam.. but i didn't quite remember the titles..

Can't say I'm aware of any videos on how to sing, but I've had a little training in that department, and can offer a few tips:

    1) Breath deep and sing from the abdomen. You're let likely to stress your vocal chords this way.

    2) Make sure you can hear yourself easily through your monitor.

    3) Let the PA do the work. It's sort of like playing bass; you can dig in if you want to, or you can let your amp do the work for you. Singing is the same. If the mikes are eq'd right, they'll do most of the work for you.

Good luck. Be prepared to practice quite a bit. I can be very challenging to play bass and sing at the same time.
