I just found this great interview with jason newsted. It's old, but I think reading it will perhaps gain this guy some more respect: http://www.metallicaworld.co.uk/Interviews/1996_jason_bassplayer.htm I'm really surprised to see how open-minded and interested he is in hearing and learning more music. Read it!
I have so much more respect for him since he left Metallica. I was a die hard Cliff fan from like '85 & I (like many others) went through the "Jason Sucks man..he's no Cliff" thing. But that interview, among many others, shows me that he is a gifted musician. Some of the projects he's chosen (like Echobrain) are some brave & cool choices! Plus I can't imagine anything more miserable that having to be a 'yes man' to Lars & James. I don't see how Kirk Hammett still does it. Those guys are tools.
Works fine here in firefox. It's a big read, I'll do the rest in the morning. Anyone know if it's worth checking out the other projects he does? I'm kind of curious to hear him play when he has the room (imho not much room to do a decent bassline with metallica-kind of guitars).
Yeah, check out the first Echobrain - record!! Great stuff! And I think he has some decent basslines in the Loads with metallica...at least way more interesting than ever before with them..
