If you want to develop your dexterity the following:
    1. Have your bass set up with very low action and neearly no relief in the neck

    2. Develop a "soft" touch. The more you are able to keep the fretting hand loose the quicker you can be without placing stress on your hand.

    3. Use only as much pressure as necessary, NO MORE, when fretting a note.

    4. Use all 4 fingers on the fretting hand

    5. After fretting a note only lift the finger of the fretboard enough to allow another note to ring -EFFICIENCY is the key.

    6. Practice - your muscles must develop a "muscle memory." Therefore you can remove the "thinking process" from the equation.
