Hey y'all. I thought that if I wanted some help on the DB side, the least I could do would be to introduce myself. I'm 16, I've played toy-bass for a little over 4 years now. Once I got into fretless, I discovered my deep love of jazz, so I decided to learn the real bass. I'm currently testing and searching for DB's and have it narrowed down to a maybe. I'm new to the DB side, though I've been lurking for a bit now. I won't ask you for tabs (I despise them myself), I hate FiElDy, and I'm prepared to be "dubbed" by the almighty DURRL. So...in essence, "Hi." Peace
FETALFART, Welcome aboard! We don't really HATE FieLdY, we just think he's a hosebag who happens to be fun to make fun of...you know, kind of like he's got a big bullseye on his chest. No wait, that's probably just another tattoo....Anyway, if I were you, I'd be more worried about what the almighty RED DOUCHESPRAY is going to do with your username than anything the rest of us might come up with. RED is truly the master of the art. You're safe at least until morning, but after that... The suspense is half the fun. Happy nail-biting, and welcome to the dark side.
Ed: Michael Moore is playing that same bass with Dave Brubeck. I'd be inclined to wear welder's goggles, though.
Thanks for the warm reception. I'm planning on taking lessons at a local college in Baytown, which is over towards Houston. I am choosing, as of yet, between an older Kay M1 (few cracks that I'm concerned about) and a used but not old Engelhardt C1 (very close to mint condition). I did check out SPEEDO's thread about buying an upright when I was in my lurking period. I've searched TB for threads on buying uprights, Kay basses, and Engelhardt basses. Imagine that, a teenager who knows how to use the search function! Well y'all, I hope to be spending more time on "the dark side." Maybe, just maybe, I'll get leave one day without ever being Kung Fuqua'd, who knows? For now, I'll walk lightly and speak softly. Thanks for the advice y'all, it's really a help. Peace
