  1. ^ Mercy-dog!!!

That's one of my Dachshunds, Mercy. Mercy herniated a disc in her back a few years ago and was rendered paralyzed from her mid-belly down for about 6 months. With lotsa physical therapy, and the use of a doggie-wheelchair (essentially an ass-cart) she's learned to walk again. It's not graceful at ALL, but she gets around on her own. She also regained control of her bladder, which is a GOOD thing. Unfortunately, she still poops whenever/wherever. She's got no clue she's even going.

Anywho, I needed a new avatar, So here's Mercy! :)

  4. Yeah, it's kinda funny. She hates the cold, loves the summer. By the end of the summer she always does really well. By the end of the winter, she has very little movement, and NO strength at all in her lower extremities.

I've tried to keep her active in the winter, but she wants NO part of it. Springtime is cool, 'cause you can see the progress almost daily.

It was strange, about 6 months after the injury, her entire rear quarters completely atrophied away. Literally just skin and bones. BUT, her front legs were HUGE. The most disproportionate dog I'd ever seen. She built up alot from basically having to drag herself around so much.
