? involving amps to cabs...

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by jeenyus, May 26, 2005.

    • Im thinking about getting the Kustom Groove Bass head.
    • it is 800 Watts @ 4 Ohms, 500 Watts @ 8 Ohms
    • i also need another cab(just to use for small gigs/practice), if i wanted to use a 400 watt@4 ohm cab, could this be done?
    • or could i do this with a 400 watt@8 ohm cab?
    • if running a higher watt head to lower watt cab can be done, which of the two set ups would be better?

    THANKS FOR THE HELP

    • It can be done, you just get more headroom. Just make sure you don't turn it up too high.

  2. I don't think the 4 ohm cab would be noticeably louder than an equivalant 8 ohm cab. 500 watts should be plenty for small gigs. practice. This would give you an option to match up with another 8 ohm cab for a big show.

You said it. The Groovebass goes to 2ohms, but you wont need the 1200 watts really. I'd go with the 8ohm cab and keep it practical.... leave the door open for future expansion with another 8ohm cab. :smug:

    You'll be fine either way.
