Does anyone know much about this? I found some 30 g external hard drives for around $90.00. Is Iomega a good brand? Is there another brand that would be better for around the same cost?

Build it yourself. Get an enclosure and what the "sweet spot" hard drive price from an online dealer. I built one recently for $100 and it was 160 gig.

  4. i dont know about US prices, but over here you can now get a 300Gb harddrive for under £100, so that with an external enclosure would be cool :)

Iomega stuff is really high quality, but it's overpriced. You should be able to get something much larger for the same price.

Generally for backup storage, all things are created equal. The big places (even the online ones) don't sell stuff that doesn't work. I'm an engineer, and I don't think it's worth the extra money for name brand. The interfaces are all completely standard so there is rarely a communication problem or anything.

Just get the legos that fit together and fire it up. I don't even remember either brand name for my backup.

I found an Iomega 80GB for $86. I couldn't find a better deal on anything else. Does that sound decent?
