Irish Rock Bands

  1. Hello, again!

Am I driving you batty yet? :p

I'm supposed to do some research on Irish Rock Bands for a Guinness promotion one of my clients is doing. Anyone here from Ireland or thereabouts know who the hip new bands are? I know U2 has made a comeback, but I'm lookin' for fresh blood.

    Gracias-

I was big into the Pogues. I think Shane MacGowan is making a run with the Popes.

Raglan Road is an Irish band out of NYC.

I thought they were awesome when I saw them this summer.

I'd love to play some celtic-type music myself. I don't know who's hip back in the old sod though.

JJ72 and Ash (though I think they're from Northern Ireland) are apparently the next big thing, but I can't honestly fathom why - if you've Morpheus or whatever, try downloading Snow or Girl From Mars, and you'll see what I mean.

  6. Black 47 is still out there.

    Weren't the Waterboys Irish?

  8. Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly, these bands aren't from Ireland, but they like Guiness and play Irish style music

  9. The Waterboys are Irish. They just put a new album out.

    Crazy 80's nostalgia...

Wow. When can we expect a new Flock of Seagulls album?
Also, don't forget Van Morrison and Them.

  13. What about Cactus World News? They may not be together anymore, but they had some cool songs off of "Urban Beaches." Then there's Clannad,I used to hear their music before and in between sets at U2 concerts.Oh yeah, this is definitely not new but worth checking out:"Dexy's Midnight Runners." Fun stuff.
