Hello I was looking for a new bass but I want it to be an upgrade in the 600$ from what I have already which is a Jackson js3v. So I was looking at a local shop and found a 1986 rb960. It was used for 300$ and I liked it so I was wondering if it would be a good upgrade or look for something more expensive.

I would say yes. The Jackson stuff is decent but that era from Ibanez is pretty nice. Especially if you liked the bass better. Because that is really what matters.

I own an RB960 and they are really nice in my view. Not sure about the prices on these in the US, but if I saw one for $300 I'd snapp it up. They are more like $450 to $500 where I live.
