I'd really like to start drawing manga. I used to try as a kid by copying drawings from my Dirty Pair graphic novels, but never was able to create my own without a template to copy from. I love the artwork of stuff like Dirty Pair, Akira, Ghost in the Shell etc and would love to be able to create that stuff. Anyone know how I would be able to learn? Or is it just practice by repeating other peoples work?
there ARE books that deal with this topic. I've seen them, never used them. I *mimic* the style, it's great one, but I love the more American-ized version ala Aeon Flux myself... here's a start: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/48...103-4787763-1188634?n=507846&s=books&v=glance and here's running series: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/47...103-4787763-1188634?n=507846&s=books&v=glance

manga is basically what comics in japan are called. They have them for almost any demographic you could want. comics for kids, comics for girls, comics for boys, comics for men, for women...and the list goes on and on. Hentai (which in a basic sense means "perverted") appies to things that would be of an "adult" nature. So a hentai manga would be an x-rated comic. Even these are broken down into different genres, but i won't go into those for fear of setting off a real geek alarm ^_^ The term "manga" has become more mainstream and now is also being used to categorize comics that may not be drawn by japanese authors, but are drawn in the artistic "style" that is most assocatied with comics from Japan. Bukkake is when a mommy and a daddy and a daddy and a daddy and a daddy and a daddy and a daddy get together and decide mommy needs more face mositurizer.
