Is it alright to do this?

    I'm gonna purchase a cabinet that can take up to 200 watts max @ 8ohms but my head can only produce 120 watts @ 8ohms. Is it alright to do this?

    You can do this. Just dont drive your amp right up. You'll cause clipping and blow your speakers...

    you mean turning the volume to the max right?

    No. It means don't drive your amp into clipping.
