is it good...?

    that my ashdown will every now in then go into the red on the VU meter? sometimes it stays in teh red and sometimes it goes into teh red for brieft periods. is that ok, shoudl i be worried? thanks

    Short peaks into the red zone are ok. Staying in the red zone for long periods of time can be harmful. Try turning down your input level, then adjust your output to compensate for lost volume.

    Going into the red for long periods of time means you are overdriving the input stage of the amp. Either turn down the preamp gain, turn down the bass or expect some distortion.

    That won't hurt the amp unless you also have the master volume all the way up in which case you are probably clipping the power amp too which can damage your speakers.
