My Focus I has been hot to the touch on my last few gigs.
I thought I read that these kind of amps should run cool.
It wasn't being pushed too hard. I hope everything is ok, I'm
really happy with my little "swiss army knife" amp.

    How much hot?
My Focus, after some hour of use, is not cold, but I've no problem in touching it, it's not so hot.

Mine is pretty hot to the touch. It still seems to work ok,
but I'm not really pushing it much.

Do you notice a loss of performance?
A drop in volume, or something similar, that can suggest something is broken.
Contact Rick at AI, he's really good in customer's care

I sent him an email. No reply as of yet.

  6. I wrote to Rick at AI on Sunday, and got a reply today.
I'm sure he's a busy man, and appreciated his promptness.
Especially considering that I don't even own any AI gear.
(Although I want to get a Focus 1)
I asked about rack mounting a Focus 1.

I just wanted to add that I ran my Focus 1 at 4ohms for an hour last night on an outside gig. When we finished, I felt the top. It was pretty warm. I don't think there's a problem, but if there was I'm sure Dr. Rick would take care of it. No performance isssues whatsoever. It makes me glad I've got one of these. No disrespect to Walter Woods, but I like knowing that more than one person knows how to fix this amp.

I've called up to AI and talked to people besides Rick who seem to know what's happening on the inside of the amp, so it leads me to believe that there is no veil of secrecy shrouding the inner goins on of the AI amps.

As far as OTHER people than AI, nobody that I know of.

Not as far as I can tell. I know that as early as 2000 he had a few guys working there (when I called) so I suspect it has grown if anything. I went to college really close to the factory, so it makes me a little homesick for NC to hear those guys' accent.

BTW, my anniversary tonight...tried to take the baby out to our romantic dinner...WROOOONNGGG. She wailed. We're home eating takeout.

    Congrats on the anniversary!!!
How long ya been hitched??? And BTW, start playing and not "being quiet-the baby's sleeping" around the house. My daughter could sleep through a freakin' war. I started having rehersals here at my place when she was about 4 months old. We'll be going at it downstairs and she'll be fast asleep (she's 7 now BTW).

Thanks Mike! Three years. Lillith is 6 weeks old. Yeah, my wife is screaming at me constantly for being too loud. I pretty much always have made a bunch of racket around the house, whether I'm playing or not. I'll tell my wife you said it was OK to be loud, I'm sure that will smooth things over. :D
