Is it overdrive?

I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of effect is used on the bass in "Nobody's Real" by Powerman 5000. It's not used in the chorus, but it is in the intro and verses. I THINK that it may be overdrive, but I haven't had a chance to use any kind of bass overdrive, so I'm not sure.

This thread may belong in "Recordings," but I thought it was more related to effects.

Thanks in advance for the input!

Sounds to me like that tone could be done by pushing an amp hard, fresh strings, and maybe a pick.

This is awesome. A 15 year old thread revived. I wanted to post here just to be part of this little history book.

15 years....It's definitely the longest I've seen. I wasn't even playing bass in 2000 and actually, I was barely touching my guitars in that phase of my life.

Dude, it's only the year 2000. That pedal hasn't even been released yet. Get that space-age technology out of here.
