Hey guys, maybe some of you remember my earlier posts, but I 'm putting together a rig, (and guitar), as close as I can to Sting's in the early police years, (79', 80'). From what I read in an old interview his pre-amp was "....an ashley pre-amp".....WELL HELL if I didn't find one!!!! I went to the ashley website and read about discontinued pre-amps, and, the SC-40, the one I found, fit the description perfectly. Anybody know if that was THE preamp he used? What's the word on ashley pre-amps anyways, reliability, tone, you know....?

    You want a BP-41 or BP-40 preamp.

Notice that the SC-40 bass control is centered at 300 Hz!!!! It was intended for guitar.

Back in the day, Ashly, Yamaha and Alembic F2B (F1X hadn't come out yet) were the only game in town for preamps. They sound good and are very reliable.
