Victor Wooten's obviously done a lot with this technique, but I don't think he's done palm-muting. Has anyone tried it?
  2. Yes you can, but there is a different technique involved than "wooten" style double thumbing. It is more of a back and forth motion, like a pick, than striking through the string and hooking it with the edge of your nail on the way back up ala victor.

It may also be limited agility wise based on your physiology since you can only use the thumb and hand muscles instead of implementing the forearm and shoulder if you used a traditional double thump.
  3. think. You could mute with your left hand

I mean palm mute, not full on the mute it :p
  5. :D you could ask a friend to lend a hand :p  oh don't read that its terrible :rollno:

OK serious answer down with thump, up with index. Not quite the same I know but it works, I've been doing it for years and you can palm mute using this technique.
