Is it possible to take the strings off your bass then put them back on?

You have to take the elixers off and put the old ones back. :)

Nothing special to do, you may just need to straighten the ends out a bit to get them through the bridge a second time.
  3. alright, just making sure, thanks:)
  4. with my first bass i restrung it about 15times with the same strings just so i could practice nothing bad happened but it did kill the strings

The thing is, constant stretching and restretching the strings may lead to a quicker death...but it should be fine.

Hm...maybe I should try out one of the sets of elixirs I've now got? :p
