Is it safe to use head as just preamp??

Ive got some Hartke 7000 heads that I love the sound of, but are just too under powered. Is it ok and (safe?) to run the Preamp out via the effects loop to a seperate power amp and leave the head unloaded??? I also have a head with with one bad power section. I would use that one.

Shouldn't be a problem... The solid state power amps would be ok without a load.

Looking at the 7000's manual http://www.samsontech.com/products/relatedDocs/ACF1903.pdf

The effects send is post EQ and Post Compressor but pre Master Volume control...just keep the Master Volume all the way down and the power amps will never know.

It appears that you can get enough juice out of the effects send to drive a power amp to full power. That would be my major concern...

    Good luck!
