Does anyone know if Michael Pope is no longer making and/or distributing preamps? I tried contacting them/him through the website a few weeks ago but haven't heard anything. I figured maybe there was a delay with the COVID situation, so I tried reaching out to the dealers listed. I started with Best Bass Gear because they're typically my go-to, but it turns out they haven't been selling them for a year or so. Same thing with a call to Bass San Diego. It also turns out every other dealer listed doesn't show anything for Pope on their websites anymore. A search on Reverb and eBay also turned up zero. Long story short I'm looking for parts for a Flexcore, so I'm curious if I should drop my endeavor and consider alternatives. I guess my last resort could be contacting Fodera, but I don't think they've ever sold preamps or parts directly. Thoughts?
Since Fodera has been working with Pope since forever, wouldn’t hurt asking them If they know what the deal is...
I tried emailing him last week and the email failed to deliver and bounced back. If you have luck with Fodera please let us know.
No luck with Fodera. They responded quickly, and do still used the Pope pre, but they don’t sell parts and haven’t heard from Mike Pope in a while either. Fingers crossed in all directions that he is ok. I’ll hold out for a while and see what happens before I start fabricating my own connectors for standard switches. I’m just looking to add some coil taps.
I don't think the modules you can buy from Pope will address coil-splitting. Coil-Splitting can be done w/o involving the preamp, or IOW prior to going into the preamp.
According to the manual there’s a coil tap module, which makes sense given my understanding of the design principles for the pre. That said I can of course do it the old fashioned way if I have to.
The website for the flexcore is still up and linking to a paypal shopping cart. Making me nervous about trying to order one.
