Is my Cab broke?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by zacl, Jun 11, 2002.

  1. Hey everone,

    I've got a big problem.

I have a David Eden 210XLT, and lately I've noticed when I hit low notes, the speakers rattle a little bit before the note comes out clear. (The rattle only lasts about a second)

Anyway, what do you think the problem is?

I hope to God that the speakers aren't blown.

I had a similar problem with a Goliath 4x10. I feared that two of the speakers were blown.

As I was taking them out to send off for reconing, I noticed that the screw that held the wiring terminal to the speaker's frame was loose. The same connection was used to secure the voice coil's lead to the wiring terminal. The vibration of the cabinet caused the connection to shake and not make good contact. It sounded terrible.

A careful tightening of the wiring terminal screws is all it took to make a happy cabinet.

Give that a try...and please be careful taking the speakers out so that you don't stab the cone.

Good luck and please let us know how it goes.
