Hi I have an essex bass bought a year ago
and front pickup doesnt even work now
I tried to sell it at GC but the guy said it has to be a specific brand to sell something
So now the only place left for me is pawnshops i guess..
and i know its gonna be $0.02 to sell it there..

My question is what do people do with their sx bass?
is it worth keeping?? upgrade and put it down the basement?

  2. Why not just buy new pups?

If you car gets a flat tire do you not fix it..

Put some new pickups in it and bring her to life.

then just give it to me ill take it and make it shine :)

  7. You could even contact Kurt and ask him if your bass is still under warranty. If it's less than a year old the chances are good.

    Yes.

If you don't like it, sell it and get something else.

If you were local I would be glad to buy it from you and fix it up for myself. It's easy enough to slap in a new pickup. Have you checked to see if it's just a loose wire?

BUT...if you are not happy with the bass and need to sell it to help pay for a new one, do it.

Someone mentioned checking to see if it was under warranty. Do that first.

    That's my 2 cents.

    :D

Most cars cost more than the price of buying a new tire. SX basses do not cost more than the price of putting new pickups in.

Don't buy the pickup new. There's always e-bay and craigslist.

So is the pickup bad or is it just a loose wire? Is it still under warranty?

This could be a good learning experience for the OP. Learning to use the soldering iron is a good thing.

Besides, if the bass in question plays well enough it would be well worth putting good electronics into regardless of how it looked or what it cost.

    :D

The warranty for SX basses is only 30 days.

Who even knew they had a warranty?:p

    I like 5, 8, 10, and 12 string basses
Replace the pickups yourself. If you don't feel confident then sell it to someone here who can fix it.

The sx basses are good basses to learn how to modify and fix instruments.

Or strip it down and sell the parts off seperately.

    This is what i think.

Anything made out of Good wood is worth keeping. Don't sell it. Upgrade the PUPS or save for a new bass. You'll be a lot happier.

Don't be afraid to open her up. It won't kill you, and the way i see it, this will be a great learning experience for you.

Perhaps if you could communicate a little clearer what you tried to do or what exactly is wrong people would be able to help you out better.

  20. I've always been a firm believer in that you get what you pay for. 90% of the time that's true. I thought about getting an SX, but what I hear most of the time is once you get it there's all this sh!t that you got to do to them to make them playable. The reason I buy something is because it's playable, not unplayable, or not quite playable, or after a good setup then it's playable.:eyebrow:
