Is the Status "Shark" model any good?

I´m offered a Status SHARK bass for 6.995:- SEK, approx. $700.

Is it a good bass, and is the price reasonable?

I think it´s used...but he said it was in good condition.

Is it headed or not? Can anyone give me some info about the bass?

  2. the Shark was done in three different styles- all headed, with a wood body, and graphite reinforced maple neck.

the first had one chrome covered humbucker and was passive.
then they did an active one pickup model, and finally an active two pickup model, similar to the Energy bass but with a scratchplate.

I tried the first model, and found it a bit bland sounding- a vaguely Jazz bass on bridge p/up sound without much character.
all Status Basses are well made, but I think the price on that one is a bit high.

Thanks a million for the rapid response!

What a great forum this is...

  4. correction- actually the version I tried out was a later version of the single p/up passive Shark- the earlier version had the pickup more in P bass position, the later one more in Jazz bass bridge p/up pos.
