... with a pickguard?
And are there pickguards for this bass which aren't just black?
Yes, and no, I don't think there are. They're just standard 414 models with a pickguard slapped on there and an X in the end of the model name to make it look cool. An X is a proven, unmistakeable way to add coolness to something.
Nevertheless, those BB414 are sweet basses (not only for the money ), and if you're planning on getting one, do so.
It would be even sweeter with a different pickguard.
Which do you like better, black, or white?
I'm diggin' the white one, myself...
These aren't available in the US, are they?
I found it on the Italian site: http://it.yamaha.com/it/products/musical_instruments/guitars_basses/el_basses/bb_s/?mode=overview
Odd that's it the only one with the description in English. I guess the Japanese translate into English first, and then the various sites translate it into other languages when they get around to it.
I could take the black pickguard with a different colour body, like a Decade-ripoff Burgundy red. Neat bass for the money, anyway. I'm sure it will hit the states eventually.
IMHO the orange and burst are the only two appealing colors.
I'm digging that white!
