Yes, BBP34. I’m going to have them order some Hipshot short tuners and put on some DR sunbeams. So it might be a little bit, but I’ll give my review once I pick it up.

why do you think it's taiwan based on the serial number?

first off i don't trust guit ar dater. i look up my serials manually using the yamaha pdf you linked.
the pdf is old and doesn't show indonesia at all. whether it's taiwan or indonesia, the system is the same after 2002. i have 2017 indonesian basses with HNKxxxxxx
there's no reason to think the neck is from taiwan.

  8. Whenever I've had questions about a BB bass serial/year/country, I've written an email to Yamaha support and they are very responsive and have always been able to quickly answer with the info.

  15. Hello! I have a question for you guys. When I touch the pole of the neck pickup (not the plastic) with my finger, the pickup make some noise. It doesn't happen that much with the bridge pickup and it never happened with any of the other basses that I have. Besides, The pickups (both) get some "liquid" marks just under the strings. I can "clean" them up, but then they appear again. And two of the knobs look a like heavily used. It didn't have any of these issues when I bought it (6 months ago) but I'm concern (especially about the pickups). Do you think this is normal?

    Congrats!
Why the change of tuners though? My BBP35 is rock solid.

    Hi everybody
This is a question for the experts ...
I am looking for a bolt on brother to my BB3000A....but with passive pickups...I am lwatching very close a BB1100S , are the pups actives or passives ? And generally speaking active BB basses have active pups like my 3000A ?
    Thanx in advance

    BB1100S pickups are passive

  19. The BB1600 is the bolt on neck version of the BB3000 (but with rosewood fingerboard instead of ebony) it has passive P-J pickups and no pre-amp -- with the fat rail on the J bridge pickup and pole pieces on the neck P pickup. I believe the BB1100S has pole pieces on the J bridge pickup (hypercarrots will know for sure). The big rail J pickup that the BB1600 has is quite a different sound from the pole piece J pickup and I am a big fan of the basses with rail J and pole piece P.

I usually change them out on the basses I have, including my BB434 and 435. I love the hipshots and I do prefer the short ones. But I think you’re right. This BBP34 is going to stay stock.
