Fender p bass (american) Is this a fake????
It says..."Fender P bass fender 60th anniversary Fender p bass (american) 60th anniversary jimmy hendrix signature model.
1998 or 1999 not sure. new strings plays great. no case.
    no low ballers"
    Fender p bass (american) - $750 (middletown)

fender is from 1946, so 60 years would be 2006,not 1999?..... Why would there be a Jimi Hendrix signature on a P bass? The serial number does not check out on Fender serial number website DN 920883,yetthe DN prefix was used in 1999....
    please help me, thanks!

I don't think that's a Jimi Hendrix signature model Fender.

    Fender was founded in 1946, so 60 years would be 2006, not 1999?. 1946 to 1999 is 53 years...not 60 years...

Nope, I don't like it. Looks like an older silver-logo Mexican neck with some decal replacement going on. 'Made in the USA' on the headstock has a weird glow to it, which makes me question what is going on with it. The Jimmy (sic!) Hendrix decal is just weird and has no place on a P bass neck of any sort. You can get a pack of decals off of Ebay from a Canadian seller, which includes a Hendrix signature.

The hand-painted string tree is tasteful.

The body doesn't look Fender at all; the roundover seems to generous and the bass-side horn looks a tad bulbous. The pearloid pickguard and small domed control knobs look like a copy bass as well.

Junk. Avoid. Seller lives in squalor, can't take a proper photograph, can't do any proper research on their bass and wants $750 firm? The road to drama that way lies.

that is the worst headstock I've ever seen. It was not correctly cut in addition to being horribly horribly wrong. Jimmy grifted alembic 001 played it for years throughout the 80s.

Doesn't seem to be any such thing as a Hendrix signature bass according to Google. I'd steer clear.

He did, he played Noel Redding's 8 string Hagstrom more than once, I've seen the pics. But a bass sig? Nah.... Scam City.

It's completely. fake. If you're looking at the pictures on a decent screen, you can clearly see that the serial numbers and decals are photoshopped on. The "Made in USA" on the front has a yellow box around it for crying out loud.
