Picked up a new Stingray 4 bass copperhead bronze with washed copper pickguard today at GC for $799 (no case). Seems like a previous thread mentioned these as item shown at 2004 NAMM show and only GC ordered them (?). Seem like a good deal to you TB'ers?
For $799 for a new Stingray, I'd go for it. You rarely find them used at that good price. But keep in mind, a used one in this range usually has a case. Still a great deal.
I'm a dealer, and I'd buy that. But just because it's GC, I'd jump up and down and complain until they gave me the case, because you KNOW it came with one.
I really like that color combination. I almost snagged the Sterling version a while ago. Plus, the price is great. Enjoy!
Thanks for all the reassurance! It's only my 3rd bass in 30 years, and the first brand new one. Quote You really think they'd do it? I guess I didn't negotiate hard enough. The price was $799 two weeks ago, then it was $1199 when I went in yesterday. I said "I guess I missed out on that deal" and he said yeah too bad. Then the asst mgr came by and I mentioned it and he said "I'll do that price for you today-we want to move those basses" (there were 2 of them). I ended up getting a gig bag for $29 instead of $39, and that's the cheapest deal I've seen on a 'Ray so I figured it was fair... Don't have any yet. Looks just like the 5'er photo above, only a 4 string. Rosewood board, maple headstock (but no pickup switch).
