I am looking to buy a Seymour Duncan Antiquity II 1104-17 for SCPB to put in my faux 51'. I found this one on Amazon and was getting ready to buy it then I noticed the back. Why would it have a different number than the one listed at SD. I will write the seller but you guys are way more fun to talk to. ;)

I search Seymour Duncan for 11113411 and didn't get anything.

Going by the cloth insluated wire, maybe.

Does the seller list a DCR spec af about 6.9kOhms?

No but they do list the model number as 11044-17 so it probably is the real deal. I just didn't want to get it home and find out is was the Antiquity I and not the II.
I'm thinking the number on the back is a serial number not a model number.

I think I'll risk it. Amazon link

I tried one and hated it. Very clackety. But in SD's defense, he duplicated the original.

I damned sure would spend $74 on one, but it's your call.

Edit: I don't want to talk you out of it, but it's the brightest sounding scpb pickup I've tried.
I'd prefer the $30 '51 RI pickup on ebay, but different people like different stuff.

Thanks Glenn. It's hard to know what to believe. I feel like an ass for saying this but I'm buying it mostly for the look. I figure between string selection, EQ, VT settings and playing style I can get it to sound the way I want. This is just my back-up beater bass. The bass I bought TO futz with. I just got done deglossing the finish and Telecastering the headstock. I should post a pix but it really isn't that special looking.
I've heard that the Dusty Hill bass, for all practical purposes, has the Antiquity II pick-up in it and that bass sure isn't what I'd call "clackety". I think of clackety as the Fieldy tone.

Good luck with it, and if it's too bright for you a bigger cap will help offset that.

The number on the sticker is a serial number, not the model number.

This certainly is a SD Antiquity.

For those Antiquity pickups that have both Antiquity 1 and Antiquity 2 it is not possible to know which one is which without looking at the base color, wires etc. It is not marked. Drives me nuts in the case of Telecaster (guitar) neck pickups where it's really hard to find out.

A short trip over to seymourduncanforum.com should get you all set, though.

I'm hard-wiring this bitch! One pick-up no controls, it's an artistic statement I tells ya... I have a scuffed brass plate that I've cut to match the shape of the original controls cover and I've putting that over the hole.
Who needs all those knobs anyway??:D

Greetings from Seymour Duncan. YES, that is an Antiquity II single coil P. 11044-17.
(the numbers are just production numbers)

WOW Dogghouse How in the heck did you know about this thread?
I just placed the order. Should be here next week. Woot!
So... Am I nuts for wiring this PU directly to the jack?

Just an FYI, I have SD's '59 humbucker (neck) and Pearly Gates (bridge) in my Les Paul DC style Hamer guitar. I put them in about 12 years ago and have been happy ever since. Not that I'm much of a git player.... cough cough .. ummm

Cool this will offset the fact that I never change my strings...

That's cool, but if it's too bright, you can still solder a cap across the jack to knock off some highs (no pot/knob needed).
