Is this a vintage precision pickup?

So I just picked up a precision bass pickup on Craigslist for pretty cheap.. Not sure if one of us got ripped off, but let me know if my hunches are correct..

He said that they were in an AVRI 57 p, but the previous owner had installed older pickups..

From what I can find, they may be Fender 1975 p-bass pickups - or from any other p-bass ever made..

They're a grayish brown, and are stamped 83675.. Any one know? My main question - are these grey bottom, or brown? I'm a bit colorblind..

    Pics posted!

  3. Grey bottom, the stamping would indicate 1978

Excellent! I'm guessing that my $45 buy wasn't a bust.

If you don't mind me asking - how to do you break down the pickup stamp?
