[DEL]Found this beauty on Kijiji, asking price: $450.

    If it's a real hellraiser, retail's around $1100-$1200.

I didn't waste any time, and I called him to set up a time to go see it, but as I looked at it some more, a few alarm bells went off.

For one, is the Hellraiser part of the Schecter Diamond series? I can't find any real documentation on whether it is or not. Secondly, the one screw plate that says "Hellraiser" looks a little suspect. The hellraisers on Schecter's site all have 3 screws in the nameplate on the headstock.

Third, the EMG HZ. The Hellraisers on Schecters' site should come stock with EMG 35TWs, and I can't see any reason why someone would want to replace those with HZs. I suppose its possible though...

Fourth, and probably the difference that got me the most, was the fact that there's only 4 knobs on the face. The Hellraisers on Schecter's site should have 7 (Bridge Pup Vol, Neck Pup vol, High Mid Low) and the volume knobs should have a push/pull to switch the EMGs between split and humbucking.

But then on the other hand, the body and binding (and colour) are ones only available on the Hellraiser, and the inlays look like they should be right, as does the bridge.

I can't tell. Clever counterfeit, Hellraiser that's just been completely mucked with, or repainted Omen?

    Anyone? Help?[/DEL]

I'm an idiot. It's not an Extreme. It's a now out-of-production Hellraiser 4. 2 Band EQ and EMG 35HZ. Still think I'm going to get it despite that. Price seems great and I can always replace the Pups.

That said, anyone got any experience with this? Positive? Negative? Overall performance of the bass?

I don't think I'd pay that for it but I have an out of production diamond custom 4 from Schecter. Alder body, quilted maple top, solid. The bass sounds nice, the pick ups have a big bottom end and mid range (same as this one). Actually looks a lot like the new hellraiser series with a bound body and neck. I paid less than their asking. The bass is quality at a good price. Basses are so subjective, it's up to you.
