I saw this auction on the US Evilbay, but i don't know whether to believe such a stingray existed. here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/1978-Music-Man-...7367699953QQcategoryZ4713QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Did such a stingray ever exist? i can only imagine the growl and low end.
Well in terms of uniqueness, this SR has got it. But I agree with Figjam, the route looks crappy and I find that pickguard to be pretty ugly. On top of that, the bidding is starting at $900? Screw that! For a couple bills more, you could get a new one or a far better used one. If yr thinking its vintage and therefore likely more valuable, think again. That mediocre mod trashed its resale value. If it was dirt cheap, I'd consider getting it because itÂ’s odd and somewhat interesting. But for this one, I'd move on. r
This has been on eBay more than once and very recently. No one seems to want to keep it. Hmmm, wonder why.
I wouldnt do it, personally. You just don't know about the quality of the electronics job, and seeing how the bass is supposedly from 1978, is it still in great condition?
Can you really ecer trust someone who says "This bass used to belong to the bassist/bass player from..." anyway??? ~Ryan
Definately not stock... looks like a bound fretboard too... never seen that on a Ray... Tuners sure as hell ain't stock. No preamp, and that's why people love these vintage pieces. No epoxy preamp, no sale. Just looks fishy all around.
