I have my eyes on that, hav talked with the owner and all but i want some approval from the masses.

Here is a 1977 fender jazz bass in good condition. The pickups are not stock but he says the rest of the bass is. What would you say a bass like this is worth?

I also think it's a really good price, provided it plays well and has no other issues. Original examples of jazzes from that vintage go for anywhere from $1200 to $2300 or so, depending on condition, finish, etc. (You can check them out at www.gbase.com). You could pop vintage Fender pickups and pots into it for a couple of hundred if you wanted to return it to near-original specs.

Looks like a good deal if it's a good player.

go for it, 800 bucks isnt much for a 28 year old bass if its in a good condition :)
