I'm looking for some accurate bass tablature, or just something to get me started on the following Cake tunes:
    01. Love You Madly *
    02. Stickshifts & Safetybelts *
    03. Never There *
    04. Rock & Roll Lifestyle
    05. No Phone *
    06. Frank Sinatra
    07. Comfort Eagle
    08. Walk on By
    09. Shadow Stabbing
    10. Short Skirt, Long Jacket
    11. Let Me Go *
    12. I will Survive *
    13. Going the Distance *
    **Need these tabs the most**

That gets repeated throughout Frank Sinatra

Forgot to mention, I have no bass with me, this is from memory, but that should be close.
If nobody else gets them, I'll get Stickshifts & Safetybelts , Never There, No Phone, Short Skirt, Long Jacket, I will Survive, and Going the Distance for you either later tonight or tomarrow.

no phone (kinda like a tongue twister for your fingers, at least for me)

    --------------------------------------
    ---------------------------------------0-0-0-----0-1-2-
    --2---2------3-3-3-0-----3---3-0------------2------
    -0-----3--0-------------0----------0---------------

throughout the song, that last d d# and e are sometimes played, sometimes not. I didn't find a pattern, but I just got the cd yesterday, and have only listenend to the song maybe 3 times. on the little bridgy breaky thing in the middle, he hits an e every now and then, and then does the d d# e thing. you can hear when he does that.

Stickshifts & safety belts (hope you're good with your fretting hand pinkey)

    intro
    --------------------------------9---------------
    -------------2----------1-2---9--11-9-6---------------
    ---2---2-0-4--4--2--2-2----7----------------------------
    -0---0----------0--0-------------------------------
(it looks cramped and complicated, but i wanted to keep it on one line, sorry)

    main line
    ---------------1----------------6----------------
    -----------1-4----------4---6-9---------------------
    -----2-4-2----------4-7---7--------------------------
    -0-4--------------5-------------------------------
That's easy to follow, he just does the same thing off of every root, e, b#, a, e

    chorus
    ----------6-9-6----------8-11-8-----------------------
    --6-9-6-7--------6-9-6-9-------------------------------
    -7--------------7--------------------------------
    -----------------------------------------------

at the end of the chorus victor goes
    ------6-9-6---------------------------------------
    --6-9------9-6-------------------------------------
    -7----------------------------------------------
    -----------------------------------------------
then goes back into the main line

"a lot of good cars are Japanese...."
    --------------------------6-9-6-------------------
    ------4-7-4-----------6-9------9-6------4-7-4---------
    --4-7------7-4--(2x)-7---------------4-7------7-4------
    -5----------------------------------5------------

    -----------------------------------------------
    -----6-9-----------------------------------------
    --6-9---6-9---(then play the inro again)--------------------
    -7----------------------------------------------

Then back into the main line, and that should wrap it up

    Never there

    -----------------------------------------------
    --------2------2---1------------------------------
    -----------0--3---2-------------------------------
    -0---3-------------------------------------------
Theres one other part of the song he does once or twice, goes a little somthing like this:
    -----------------------------------------------
    -----------------------------------------------
    --5-------3--2------------------------------------
    -----------------0------------------------------

I got this from a news group 5 years ago. I think it is pretty accurate but doesn't include the adlibbing at the end of the song.

Cake's revival of this song was very funky yet with a mix of jazz!!??

They also have some cool songs like "Frank Sinatra and "The Distance".

Anyway, their bassist Victor Damiani, makes up a cool and steady bass line

with a variation at the last part of the song. I have not yet wrote the

variation at the last part but it's pretty simple and you can figure it out.

If you have any comments or suggestions, please e-mail me at the address

    above. Thanks and have fun.
