Anyone have opinions on the value of embedding these during mastering? We'd like the highest quality mastered mp3s but if we can save a buck or two doing it ourselves after the mastering that'd be nice. Are these something we should invest in or will most streaming retailers insert them anyway?

    Love to hear experiences.

    According to This Website:

It is best to apply the codes in the mastering stage, as the codes then become embedded in the masters TOC (Table of Contents), and are replicated with the product during manufacturing. This allows the codes to be picked-up when encoding into digital distribution assets such as MP3/AAC/etcÂ… and guarantees the widest possible coverage of the codes as they map to the songs.
