Anyone out here ITIL Foundation-level certified? Or higher? What's the big deal about this? I'm curious if it adds to your resume, and what impact it might have on salary? I know what it is, but am wondering if I can justify spending large sums of money on non-bass-related, questionably career-boosting, time-robbing, melon-bursting study...

Ummmm....no. Looks to be a waste of time to me. You can tell within five minutes of conversation whether or not someone is qualified to manage IT. I don't think you can get IT management skills from a book/class/teacher. Those are earned in real life working.

ITIL, like all certs, is just a buzzword. It will help if you are applying for a job and the HR manager or headhunter has decided they want that cert. Otherwise it won't.
