Looks like more than an 11% body mass reduction, shouldn't the discount be higher?

Well, if you ever wanted to own an American Fender for $450, now you can have it. At least, most of it.

Do they include all the original parts (sawdust) in case you want to restore to factory condition?

a note to anyone else who is thinking about doing this: at least make the holes big enough to fit an ice-cold can of Coors Light in there. I'm imagining playing a show with 6 cans holstered in my bass and frankly, I think that would be sweet. It would kind of defeat the purpose of "weight relief," but hey, function over form!

I saw that on Ebay and I kind of liked it. Then I saw it was 8.8lbs. My Stingray is 8.9lbs.

It's your chance to own a real USA Fender at a great price. Do you think anyone will notice the mods from 50 feet on a dimly lit stage? Well maybe, but you could always play for the visually impaired. They are an underserviced market you know. Think of the potential.......

I'm starting to wonder if there is just one lunatic out there that is behind all of this.

I suspect a drug angle to this. It's people who have a bass, own woodworking tools, and use crystal meth. 'Murica.

Once you get into chopping up basses, let along doing it so visibly, you are taking your Weight Weeniedom to a bad place. If you want a light bass there are plenty on the market. If you want a light Fender, save up your money for a chambered Sadowsky. That is not a joke. There are two ways to make a heavy bass lighter:

    1) Sell the heavy bass and replace it with a light bass.

    2) Strap it on.

There was a thread a while back where someone found a poor t40 that got a similar (mis)treatment. What don’t get is how do these people address neck dive? I’ll tolerate a heavy bass that keeps the neck at a nice 20-30 degree angle far more readily than a light bass with neck dive.

That’s nuts to drill out a body like that. I guess it’s not widely enough understood that too light a body results in an unbalanced neck heavy instrument. The leverage neck heaviness causes can easily exert more lbs/sq’ onto your shoulder than you took off using a lighter body.

No one ever talks about this but where it’s really advantageous to take off weight is in the neck. It’s probably a good thing the guy who drilled the holes in the body didn’t know this or it coulda been a lot worse....
