Picked up an NV425 last night from a fellow Bay Area TB'er and A/B'ed it with my SVT810E at practice. Ran my BEAD-tuned T-40 > SVT II Pro > cabs.

While the Berg moves considerably less air, it's much more articulate and less boomy. It doesn't "feel" as loud as the Ampeg, but it "sounds" as loud, and sounds better. There's nuance now where before there was simply thud. I was worried that I would be too "hi-fi" and modern-sounding, which would be WRONG for my sludgey metal band, but it's not. It's just loud and clear!

And man, it's an absolute dream to move around -- I was actually able to carry it down 2 flights of stairs all by myself! I'm pretty happy with the purchase!

Hey, congrats Ian. I love my two Bergantino HT-112s. Shoot me a PM when you're playing out sometime!

    you got it, man! :)

  6. Nice! That's one of the few Bergantino cabs I have not had the pleasure of trying.

That's kind of a strange design. I get the design goal of the NV610 (a smaller, lighter, higher quality Ampeg Fridge) and the NV215 ( a higher quality old school vintage style 215 with more clarity and articulation due to the mid driver and crossover). I can't quite come up with the logic of a 310/115 box... I guess an 'old school 410 with more low end'?

I'm sure it sounds good though.. I assume very fat.. lot's of low end.

Makes perfect sense to me -- a "best of both worlds" kind of approach. beat the hell out off lugging a 410 and 115 to a gig, that's fer sure. :)

  8. +1.. I guess if it had a crossover and tweeter, that would make perfect sense (that's what the HT322 and the 's' stack is about to my ear). It's still a little foggy to me just the drivers, since the vast majority of 410's are two way cabs.

Again, just musing... I'm sure it sounds great!!!!

    indeed it do. :)

the crossover-tweeter thing really wouldn't work for my needs -- I tried that with some Eden gear in the past, and it delivered that "too hi-fi" sound that really doesn't work in a heavy rock context.

    for me, IMO, YMMV.

Grats! That is certainly a great cab. Enjoy! :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:

Oh, and Ken, think of it not as a traditional 1x15 and 4x10 in one box substitute, but rather, it's a blend the NV610 and NV215, so it's still a 'new vintage' kinda vibe. It's like an NV610 that goes deeper, but is not quite as punchy/growly.

You don't really like it. Just send it to me and i'll use it for ya. Congrats!!

  12. Makes sense... I was forgetting that it's a sealed cab... so the 15 just extends the low end of the NV610 a touch. Makes sense.
