Treatment involves Carbidopa/Levedopa 3X daily for now. For a year and a half it's been frustrating, dealing with the general uselessness and pain of my right hand/arm. Then the tremors started. They did a lot of tests. X-rays. MRI - I was beginning to think of the tube as my second home. EMG. Then a neurolgist began tapping at my various extemities with a hammer and bingo! Parkinsons was the name-o. Just two days ago.
All in all I have hope for the Carbidopa/Levedopa and am somewhat relieved that my mysterious ailment has been diagnosed, as I have become a world-class left handed typist. No bass guitar, guitar or keyboards, but that may change.
I am still keeping a positive outlook.

Sorry to hear this, but it appears you have the right mental outlook going in, and that can only help. Wishing you and your doctors only the best with it.

I never actually learned to play very well
Very sorry to hear that. My sister has been battling Parkinson's for almost 10 years now. For her, it's all about getting the right combination and dosage of meds and taking them at the exact times prescribed without any deviation. She has done pretty well on this regimen.

I hope you and your neurologist figure out a plan that works well for you. Keep us updated.

Foot pedal bass synth time! Unfortunately Moog went and killed the Taurus line "for good" 9 years ago, so the remaining ones are $$$$ and your present-day alternatives are, generically, "MIDI foot pedal controller and a synth." Likely can get decent results that way, but not exactly the easily memorable all-in-one and requires more thought in shopping, I guess.

Best of luck with it, and keep thumping along however you can make music, with whatever parts work at a given moment.
