I've been lusting after an eight string lately, but...

I can't help but think bad things about the structural integrity of the head/neck area after those holes were drilled in it.
But you're right. I'm repulsed but attracted at the same time.

    i think it looks awesome
  5. Looks cool, and tbh if it's been a workhorse for a good 10 years or so then I would say it's a fair gamble to take to assume that the neck is fine regardless of the holes.

Then again with ebay you never know...but yeah, it's wicked cool! :D
  6. took me a while to see the tuning pegs at the bottom, I like it
  7. Or it's just about to fail...
I like it, but w/the funky neck joint(& Gibson's history of apparently easily-broken headstocks)I'd be wary of putting in the hands of a shipper.

I haven't seen an Explorer bass in years. Does it have the angled headstock like the LP and SG?

I kind of like it, but the doubled string spacing seems kind of wide to me. I used to have an Ibanez MC980, and the string spacing was not as wide as that (comparing my dim recollection against the small pics on Ebay) yet it felt too wide for fingerstyle playing. Probably great for a pick player though. At any rate, the spacing on this modded Gibson seems even wider, thus harder to play.
