has anyone made Maki aware of this ?
I dunno, I know of a couple female bassists who certainly aren't "dainty" in their playing.
Neither Vivian from Gallhammer nor Vanja from Triptykon are showy players, but neither seem very afraid of their instruments, ha ha.
Though of course, the slap-happy bassists posted earlier clearly have them beat as far as chops go.
With respect to the original poster; at 2'25" of the posted video the bassist introduces herself as "F Chopper KOGA." The name of her band is Gacharic Spin; here they are performing "Lock On!!"
By the way: despite their small frame and sometimes "cutesy" behavior, Japanese women (they are not girls) should never be underestimated!
Female bass player = cool
cute female bass player = awesome
cute Asian female bass player = super awesome
cute Asian female bass player who actually knows how to play?
I like this thread.
I posted her previous band's music video in thread
Yeah, Julie is *THE* gal on bass. You think she's a King Crimson fan...?
Agreed. AGREED. My brain still hurts.
I want to mary her
I'm just amazed that someone her age is pulling those influences. That girl has massive tone!
Girls got some chops. Kinda cheesy though. Tal Wilkenfeld is loads better.
^Tal is an absolutely fantastic bassist, I love that chick.
has anybody mentioned esperanza spalding yet? she dont man handle her basses but i have to say she prolly the best female bassit going today
Julie kicks ass! And I agree, great tone.
She's another huge talent, quite a performer. I can't think in terms of "best", but she, Julie and Tal are all doing great things!
Me love her long time...... five dolla!!!
Pretty cool, too bad slap bass is going out of style (according to some TBer's).
More Tal Wilkenfeld:
I guess computers in Japan must have those characters on the keys instead of letters. I wonder how that works though, Japanese characters obviously don't correspond with roman alphabet letters.
