Ive run across a discrepancy in head choices

out of those, i'd say ampeg. but if you are going to go eden for the cabs, why not stay with eden for an amp, you can get a hold of an eden head for 600 or under if you look around(i'm an eden lover though so what can i say)

 

Just wondering, what do you guys not like about the Hartke 4000? (It's completely different than the other Hartke heads BTW)

 

personnaly have nothing against hartke, like the tone a fair amount(wish i could get stu hamms tone out of it though ) but i personnaly have even considered getting a hartke 3500. i'd prefer eden though, just love eden

Eden heads sound killer with Eden cabs for sure. If you like a relatively Hi-Fi sound they Edens will kick the Ampegs @$$! Uh, Ampeg over the Hartke. Why? Becuase I just don't like the tone from those. You might. Maybe you should go audition them all first!

 

Ashdown MAG 400 is $595 new. I use one or an AMP BH-420 with my D210XLT.

 

I second the Ashdown MAG 400. Just got mine, and it supplies lots of power (500W RMS/1000 peak), enough tone shaping to do the job, very cool retro aesthetics, the funky Ashdown sub haromonizer, and it comes in a black capet covered case with handle, so you don't have to rack mount. Check out ashdownmusic.co.uk for specs. It's a great head, especially for the price. I'd also concur with the prevailing opinion that if it's down to the Ampeg or the Hartke, I'd give the nod to the Ampeg.

 

I'm with Munji, the WT400 is the amp to get, especially with that cab. It's a perfect match. BTW, the 400 just LOVES an Eden D215XLT, too! The perfect small club rig might just be the WT400 with D210XLT and D115XL, however, both cabs 8 ohms. Bass bliss.
